It’s clear the WVU football program is searching far and wide to find more defensive depth. This has resulted in offers to players spanning smaller schools and major conferences like the Big Ten and ACC.

The Mountaineers have extended an offer to a recent entry that’s receiving plenty of interest from Power Five programs. Youngstown State transfer Alex Howard announced that he’s received an offer from West Virginia.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound native of Cincinnati, Ohio was the Penguins top linebacker this past season, collecting 67 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 1 interception. Howard has gotten noticeably better in his three seasons with Youngstown, as he arrived as just a special team’s contributor and eventually turning into their top defensive player.

Along with WVU, Howard has received offers from Georgia Tech, Liberty, Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Pitt.

Howard has one year of eligibility remaining.

You can find Howard and other transfer players listed on our partner the Portal Report’s database.
