Adding his name to the growing list of WVU football transfer portal entrants, offensive lineman Cooper Young announced his intentions on Wednesday.

“I will be entering the transfer portal on January 2nd with 3 years of eligibility left. Thankful for my time at West Virginia and excited to find my next home,” posted Young about his upcoming departure from West Virginia.

A Pennsylvania native and Downingtown West High School product, Young came to WVU ahead of the 2023 season. He picked the Mountaineers over offers from Bowling Green, Buffalo, Kent State, Maryland, Penn, Pitt, Virginia, Temple, Yale, and others.

Young ended up redshirting after appearing in just two games in 2023 and then did not see any game action in 2024. Unfortunately for Young, he was unable to earn playing time from Rich Rodriguez and his staff due to missing the 2025 season with an unspecified lower-body injury.

He will have three years left of eligibility remaining at his next school.
