As of Sunday night, WV Sports Now has noticed a change to the WVU football roster. One player has been added and another removed.

The player page for senior defensive back Devonte Golden-Nelson, who transferred to West Virginia after spending three years at Akron, no longer exists. Golden-Nelson has registered just one single tackle in one game played as a Mountaineer.

Golden-Nelson recorded 33 total tackles in 2024 with Akron.

One of the last of the super seniors who began their college career during the COVID-altered 2020 season, Devonte Golden-Nelson spent his first two seasons at Memphis before transferring to Akron. He broke into the starting lineup with the Zips, starting 10 of 12 games in 2024.

Conversely, WVU has added a freshman offensive lineman in Hurricane, W.Va. native Ethan Chill. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Chill was named an All-State First-Team as a senior at Hurricane High School.
