The new WVU football staff is looking within the Big 12 conference for ways to improve the secondary. West Virginia sent an offer to a transfer safety out of BYU.

Crew Wakley revealed the Mountaineers joined the mix on Tuesday by posting a graphic on social media.

Wakley, who began his college career at Utah State before transferring to BYU before the 2023 season, announced his intentions to transfer again on Dec. 9.

The 6-foot, 200-pound strong safety started 16 games over the last two seasons. Wakley totaled 103 tackles, five tackles for a loss, three interceptions and seven pass breakups for the Cougars.

Wakley has been popular since becoming available, receiving offers from schools like Iowa State, Memphis, Purdue and UNLV. He already has an official visit scheduled with Purdue for Jan. 1-3.

Wakley is also expected to visit WVU soon.
