While nobody would view West Virginia’s one-point, double-overtime loss to No. 9 Oklahoma on Saturday as a “bad loss”, losing any game this close to March can be troublesome for a team with tournament aspirations.

Luckily for WVU, it appears as though Saturday’s loss will not be held against the Mountaineers as they rose another spot in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll to No. 13.

Before losing to the Sooners, WVU had won two straight against then-top 25 teams, Kansas and Texas Tech. The Mountaineers defeated No. 15 Texas Tech on Tuesday as their other game last week. WVU will enjoy a few days off this week, as both of its games against No. 2 Baylor were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. The Mountaineers’ next three games are against No. 12 Texas on Saturday, TCU on Tuesday and a rescheduled game against Baylor Thursday.

Other Big 12 teams in this week’s top 25 are No. 2 Baylor, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas, No. 15 Texas Tech and No. 23 Kansas. Oklahoma State was also top among teams that received votes.
