West Virginia women’s basketball coach Mike Carey has been named to the Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year Watch List, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Wednesday.

Carey is one of 15 coaches, the only coach from the Big 12, on the watch list.ย WVU’s all-time wins leader, Carey has West Virginia at 16-3 (10-3 Big 12) so far this season, ranked No. 24 in the country. The Mountainers were on an 11-game winning streak before losing their most recent game to Oklahoma on Saturday.

In his 20th season coaching the Mountaineers, Carey has won three conference coach of the year awards previously. He was named the Big East Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2010 and the Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2014.
