The WVU football has extended an offer to 2027 edge Philip Jones Jr., he announced on X earlier in the week.

Jones is a native of Miami, Fla. and plays at Immaculate La-Salle High School. Rivals has him listed as a three-star recruit, standing at 6-foot-3, 202 pounds.

“Coach Jake (Casteel) was just telling me how he liked my tape and how I would fit into their defense,” Jones said.

Last season as a sophomore, Jones racked up 10 sacks with 61 tackles. In his freshman season, he had 11 sacks and 45 tackles.

“I would describe myself very quick and always hungry to make a play and versatile,” Jones said.

While Jones said he does not know much about WVU, he mentioned Miami native Geno Smith as well as his personal friend, freshman defensive lineman Wilnerson Telemaque.

“I donโ€™t really know much but itโ€™s looks like great program play for and I know one of Miami natives that played there Geno Smith and plays there my guy Wilnerson Telemaque,” Jones said.
