WVU Football Expected to Add Transfer LB/Edge to Pass Rush

Even though the 2025 season kicks off in just a few short weeks, WVU Football head coach Rich Rodriguez has made it abundantly clear he’s not against adding new players to the roster. The Mountaineers are actually expected to land a defensive player who could make an immediate impact.

According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, West Virginia is projected to add Oregon State transfer linebacker/edge rusher Olu Omotosho.

Listed at about 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, the Houston, Texas native spent the last two season with the Beavers after staring his college career at Wyoming. Omotosho recorded 14 total tackles, six quarterback hurries and one tackle for a loss in nine games as a redshirt junior in 2024. His most productive season came in 2022 when he made 46 total tackles with 6.5 sacks and a forced fumble with Wyoming.

Omotosho entered the transfer portal in July, yet remains available.

With position battles still ongoing and defensive end Jimmori Robinson and three other WVU players forced to file a lawsuit against the NCAA for eligibility, Rodriguez appears very willing to tinker with his roster in the middle of August

And if West Virginia can’t get Robinson on the field, bringing in a player like Omotosho will become a necessity.

“You think I’m not going to talk to my recruiting staff?,” said a frustrated Rodriguez following a rough practice early in fall camp.
