2025 four-star big man Eric Reibe cut down his recruitment to 11 schools last week. WV Sports Now spoke with Reibe about his recruitment, specifically about West Virginia cracking his list.

Reibe, 7-foot, originally was offered by Josh Eilert’s staff in February but received a re-offer by Darian DeVries’ staff once they settled at their new job in the spring. WVU associate HC Chester Frazier has had a connection with Reibe going back to over a year, offering the rising senior an offer at Illinois.

“I already knew coach Chester Frazier from before when he was at Illinois so I already have a great relationship with over that lasts over a year. Coach DeVries is a great head coach. They’ve been talking to me almost every day since they got the job,” Reibe told WVSN.

Reibe and Frazier have a connection through the DMV area with the 2025 recruit hailing currently from Potomac, Md. For Reibe, his connection with Frazier is much more than a coach.

“With [Frazier], how he talks to me, it’s more than just coaching. He also interested in me as a person, not just a player. We talk about all kinds of stuff about my real life, not just on the court. He’s a coach, he’s a friend, he’s just all in one,” he said.

Reibe has talked with the West Virginia staff about a potential visit but nothing is set in stone. The German native is still in the process of scheduling his visits for the summer and fall.

“Yeah, we’ve talked about visiting [West Virginia],” Reibe revealed.

“I’m still in the process of scheduling,” he added.

Reibe’s recruitment has picked up in the last year, receiving offers from many Power-5 schools, including the blue bloods. According to 247 Sports, Reibe is the No. 46 prospect in the 2025 class. Reibe is also ranked as the fourth-best center in his class and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Maryland. You would think narrowing down a huge list of schools that offered would be difficult for Reibe? It wasn’t.

“After a while, it was easy to notice who would stay in contact long. It really wasn’t that difficult because after a while some colleges just didn’t reach out to me as before or didn’t at all so it was easy to decide,” Reibe said.

“The [schools that have reached out the most] have been Creighton, Oregon, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, Indiana and also Ohio State. At all of those places, I have the ability to play right away since the center position is open. I could get good playing time my freshman year at all of those schools,” Reibe went into detail.

Reibe most recently played for Germany’s U18 team in the European Championship. The 7-footer recorded 10 rebounds in group play, where he appeared in 29 minutes combined through two games.

As far as a timeline for his recruitment? Reibe wants to commit before National Signing Day in November during the early period to focus on his senior season and his grades. WVSN will provide updates on Reibe’s recruitment when provided.
