Rich Rodriguez Describes Player Evaluation Early in WVU Spring Ball
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Two practices in, WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez sounds somewhat pleased with what he’s seeing so far throughout the spring period.
“Got another day in shorts, I thought a little better than the last one. We should get better every day, but I thought we moved around a little bit better,” said Rodriguez at the open of his second press conference since the spring period officially opened.
“I like the effort. We think we evaluated some of the guys, but until you get into pads and go live, you won’t really know.”
And as far as evaluating his players, a team full of new transfer players and hyped up recruits, Rodriguez is still seeing what he thought he was getting, most notably in four-star freshman Kevin Brown and Matt Sieg.
“It’s early, but I guess for the most part, they are what we thought they are,” explained Rodriguez about what he’s seen from Brown and Sieg.
Rodriguez also plans to be transparent with every player about how he views them and if he believes they are good enough to win with. He reiterated that truly means coaching every player the same.
“For us, how we coach one guy is how we coach all the guys. Our culture, our environment is everybody gets coached, everybody gets an opportunity. And I want them to care about each other.”
