4-Star G Kingston Whitty Commits to ACC School After WVU Basketball Separation

Three weeks after parting ways with the WVU basketball program, top recruit Kingston Whitty has found a new college home.

Whitty announced his commitment to North Carolina State on social media on Wednesday, April 29, meaning he will play in the ACC instead of the Big 12.

Whitty signed on with WVU in November on a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 season, but was let out of that deal earlier in the month.

Whitty is a 6-foot-2 guard from Mableton, Georgia, and currently attends Christ School in Arden, North Carolina. Whitty committed in early October.

Last year, Whitty averaged 10.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 51% from the floor and 33% from 3-point range at Holy Innocents Episcopal in Georgia.

He played AAU basketball for Pro One on the UAA Circuit. Whitty wrapped up AAU play averaging 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He was named Co-MVP of the 2026 Select 80 last fall.

Whitty is a four-star recruit by ESPN and a 3-star recruit by 247 Sports & Rivals.

In addition to basketball, Whitty was a two-time Georgia state champion in track & field in the 400-meter dash and high jump.
