WVU Football Secures Commitment from 2024 RB
Even with a new season on the horizon, the WVU football program is still also focused on the future and has now secured another 2024 commitment.
Clay Ash, a 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back headed to IMG Academy in Florida for his senior season, announced his decision to commit to West Virginia as a PWO (preferred walk-on) with a tweet Tuesday morning. Ash’s commitment comes after having continuous communication with the WVU coaching staff throughout the past year.

He was on campus for Junior Day back in March and was recruited from that point on by tight ends coach Blaine Stewart. After being an All-District player in 2022 with Independence High School in Ashburn, Virginia, Ash will finish out his high school career at IMG Academy, making the decision to transfer in February.
Ash explained to WV Sports Now why he decided he wanted to become a Mountaineer.
“I loved everything about it. The atmosphere, the Coaches, the location and just over all how they ran their program. I just knew that’s where I wanted to be. And what’s not to love about WVU?”
Ash also visited Connecticut, Rutgers and Virginia in recent months.
