Ashton Woods in an Excellent Place to Learn | WVU Football All 105

All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Redshirt freshman Ashton Woods began his college career at North Carolina, but hit the transfer portal last season after the Tar Heels fired head coach Mack Brown. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound linebacker joins a Mountaineers roster with plenty of veteran talent at the position, giving him an excellent opportunity to learn and develop into a college standout.  

A two-time all-state nominee in his native Georgia, Woods has plenty of talent to build on with the WVU football program.

Last year: Woods appeared in four games at North Carolina, preserving a redshirt year.

Stats: N/A.

Post-camp outlook: The Mountaineers have veteran talent at inside linebacker, players like Ben Bogle and Chase Wilson who should eat up the majority of playing time.

Projected role: Woods could receive rotational snaps or get playing time on special teams. 

Accolades, highlights: Woods appeared in the All-American Bowl as a senior in high school and earned a pair of all-state selections in Georgia.
