Athlete from Virginia Holds WVU Offer

Published

Athlete Taymon Cooke from Graham High School out of Bluefield, Virginia has caught the eye of running backs coach Tony Dews and he now holds an offer from West Virginia. He is being recruited by the Mountaineers to either play on offense or defense and could be a factor on special teams.

The 6-foot-1 180-lb pound athlete makes plays on all three sides of the ball.  With his 4.37 40-speed, he is the fastest player on the field on any given Friday night.  His athleticism is through the roof and his ability to make defenders miss is a sight to see.  Last season he rushed for 600 yards on 20 carries and tallied 673 yards on 29 receptions.

On defense, Cooke is a physical defensive back and he can cover a receiver while keeping an eye in the backfield.  With his speed, he can run down the ball carrier from the opposite side of the field as well. Cooke feels he would fit “perfect” in the 3-3-5 scheme Tony Gibson runs.

Cooke has had several offers but has narrowed his options down to just three: Marshall, Michigan State, and West Virginia.

He doesn’t have a visit planned just yet but wasn’t shy about the possibility of making it to Morgantown.

“I love it, can’t wait to get up there.”
