Best Virginia will open up the TBT Championship Week on Friday night in Dayton, Ohio against Red Scare, a UD alumni team. Best Virginia won the Charleston region of the TBT while Red Scare won the Dayton regional.

This is the Elite-8 round of the TBT tournament. Best Virginia is just three wins away from a grand prize of $1 million. Best Virginia’s run is the furthest during their years playing in the TBT since 2019.

The WVU alumni-based team defeated No. 8 Virginia Dream, No. 4 Herd That and No. 2 Bucketneers to reach the Dayton regionals. Red Scare knocked off No. 6 Cititeam, No. 2 Golden Eagles and No. 1 The Money Team.

Best Virginia shot well from the field in the final two games of the Charleston regional as John Flowers, Jermaine Haley and Jamel Morris have connected on many three’s. Kevin Jones leads the team in scoring averaging 15.0 points through three games. Morris (12.0), Haley (11.3) and Flowers (10.7) follow Jones.

Offensive rebounding was an issue for Best Virginia as they allowed 20 against Herd That on Tuesday night. Best Virginia did win the rebounding battle in their regional finals but did commit 18 turnovers in the win.

Red Scare has notable former Flyers such as Scoochie Smith, Trey Landers, Jordan Sibert and others. Former Ohio State guard CJ Walker is also on the team since OSU’s alumni team didn’t participate this year.

Best Virginia and Red Scare will tip-off at 9 p.m. on ESPN at UD Arena. The winner will play on Saturday afternoon.
