DE Taijh Alston officially signed with West Virginia

Cameron (NC) defensive end Taijh Alston has officially signed with the Mountaineers.

Alston is a three-star prospect according to multiple recruiting outlets and is a transfer from Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Alston had been recruited by the Mountaineers when coming out of high school, but chose to play at East Carolina where he spent one season before leaving and taking a detour at the JUCO level. Alston chose West Virginia over other offers from East Carolina, North Texas and Western Kentucky.

Snagging Alston may be the biggest hidden gem of this class. Not only because of his underrated talent, but the fact that the Mountaineers really haven’t had a true pass rusher since Shaq Riddick in 2014. Alston has a large frame (6’5″ 233 lbs) which brings a different body type to the Mountaineers’ defensive front.

Given that the defensive line only returns one starter, I would expect Alston to not only get playing time immediately, but to also contend for a starting spot. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
