DL Tyrese Allen signs LOI

Published

Defensive Lineman Tyrese Allen (6’3” 290-lbs) out of Paintsville, Kentucky committed to the Mountaineers in April and will be enrolling in June.

Allen is a big man, but extremely athletic.  He uses his strength to get through the line and once he gets through, he closes in on the ball carrier.  Allen is a sure tackler that can deliver the big hit.

Even though Allen is almost 300-lbs, he played running back for his high school, and the big man did not disappoint, breaking tackles and carrying defenders down the field.

With his athleticism it will be interesting to see how defensive line coach Bruce Tall will use him.  He has the speed of a defensive end, and the body of a nose guard.  It would also be interesting to see if they use him on offense on goal line situations.  He could add immediate depth to the defensive line in 2018, because of his versatility.

Tyrese also had offers from Marshall, Bowling Green, and Cincinnati.
