Former WVU F Emmitt Matthews announced on Wednesday night that he is signing with Wasserman Basketball, an agency to help start his professional career.

“Very excited to begin my professional journey with Wasserman Basketball. One step at a time,” Matthews wrote on Twitter.

Wasserman represents former NBA MVP’s Russell Westbrook and Derrick Rose, as well as other great players like Klay Thompson, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Domantas Sabonis, Evan Mobley, Brook Lopez, Steven Adams and more. Wasserman’s goal is to help NBA prospects reach their goals professionally and help them throughout their career so they’re more than prepared for life after basketball.

Matthews is coming off his fifth season of college basketball, helping West Virginia return to the NCAA Tournament. Matthews began his career at WVU playing for three seasons before transferring to Washington for a year. Matthews returned home for a year before re-entering the transfer portal and returning to West Virginia for his final season.

Matthews averaged 10.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 32 games for the Mountaineers this past season. The Tacoma, Wa. native shot 48 percent from the field and 31 percent from three.
