Former WVU G Erik Stevenson pointed up towards Bob Huggins after hitting the game-winning shot for Best Virginia in the opening round of the regional. Huggins, who resigned in June after 16 seasons as West Virginia men’s basketball head coach, was in attendance as a fan for the game.

This was the first time that Huggins has stepped out into the public after his DUI arrest that led to the resignation. Huggins watched the entirety of the game with his family in Wheeling, cheering on his former players.

Stevenson most recently played for Huggins at WVU this past season, helping lead the Mountaineers to an NCAA Tournament appearance. After the TBT game, Stevenson was asked about his gesture towards Huggins.

“People can say what they want but that’s my guy. I love him to death; he changed my life,” Stevenson said. “It was great to see him up there. That’s my dude, period.”

Erik Stevenson and Best Virginia will await the winner of Zoo Crew-Herd That, Pitt and Marshall’s alumni teams, who play on Tuesday night. The winner plays Best Virginia on Thursday night in Wheeling.
