On Friday morning, Miami (OH) men’s basketball head coach Travis Steele announced that Rob Summers will serve as the Associate Head Coach. Summers played at West Virginia from 2005-07.

“Thank you to Travis Steele for this incredible opportunity. Excited to get to work and to help him build Miami,” Summers wrote on Twitter.

Summers played two seasons at West Virginia under John Beilein, appearing in 69 games for the Mountaineers. Summers started the majority of his senior season, averaging 4.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game. Summers was apart of the Sweet 16 team in 2006 and the NIT Championship team in 2007.

After his playing career, Summers moved over to coaching. Summers spent time at Glenville State and Urbana (OH) before moving up to Division-I basketball. The Ohio native has assisted at James Madison and Cleveland State over the past five years.

The West Virginia coaching tree continues to grow.
