Herd That

Herd That, Marshall’s alumni team, fell to Team Heartfire 73-68 after a great run in the TBT tournament. Herd That was one of the final four teams remaining with the last two rounds in Philadelphia, Pa.

Heartfire’s Raphiael Putney put away the Herd on Wednesday night with a banked-in three for the target score. Herd That was once down by 15 heading into the fourth quarter. Herd That got into that position by starting the game 0-of-15 from three.

Jon Elmore, who has led this team through the first four rounds, finished with just two points on 1-of-8 shooting. Former UNC forward JP Tokoto had a game-high of 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. Tokoto also finished with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Herd That general manager and coach Ot Elmore was issued a technical foul during the game. Elmore was going up against former NBA veteran and ESPN analyst LaPhonso Ellis, who is the head coach of Team Heartfire.

Herd That’s run ends after four games, their longest stretch in the tournament’s history. Herd That defeated Zoo Crew (Pitt), Best Virginia (WVU), Sideline Cancer and Boehiem’s Army (Syracuse) in Wheeling last week to reach the Philadelphia regional.

Herd That was a 4-seed heading into this year’s edition of the tournament.
