In the Holler: 2026 DL Gavin Neil Reveals Where WVU Football Stands

Will the WVU football staff be able to flip a top recruit already committed to another Power Four school? Well, they are now in the mix and giving it a shot.

Despite committing to Boston College in June, 2026 defensive lineman prospect Gavin Neil is keeping his options open. This has opened up the door for the WVU football program to try to flip him.

WVU defensive line coach William Green called Neil to inform him of West Virginia’s interest on Thursday, prompting Neil to share the news on social media.

And after West Virginia sent Neil an offer, WV Sports Now reached out to the Illinois native to find out what Green said to him and if the Mountaineers stand a chance to earn his commitment.

Neil even revealed where WVU ranks among his top schools.
