Is Another Devine Headed to WVU After Receiving Recent Offer?

Is another Devine headed to West Virginia? With one son on the current WVU football roster, it’s now possible Noel Devine will witness another one become a Mountaineer as well.

West Virginia sent an official offer to a 13-year-old athlete Noel Devine Jr. WVU’s offer came on Sept. 8 and a day after Miami (FL) extended one to him. Devine Jr., who is currently listed at 5-foot-8 and 136 pounds, is a 2030 prospect who has experience playing quarterback, wide receiver and running back to this point.

Noel Devine Sr. made his return to West Virginia as a coach on Rich Rodriguez’s staff in January. WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti was first to break the news prior to the official announcement.

Devine ran for 4,315 yards and scored 29 touchdowns as a Mountaineer. He also made 98 receptions and racked up 710 more yards as a receiver.

Devine’s return to the Mountaineers came about a year after he voiced displeasure about how the recruitment of his son, Andre, was handled. The previous WVU staff pulled Andre’s offer in favor of a higher-rated recruit. Andre Devine then ended up at Jacksonville State with Rodriguez.

When WVU failed to sign Andre on National Signing Day in December of 2023, the WVU Sports Hall of Famer unleashed on the old staff. But once his son landed with Rodriguez, he sounded satisfied with how everything turned out at that time.

“Proud moment yesterday seeing my son Andre sign to JSU! Thank you Coach Rod and your coaching staff for welcoming my son with open arms. This means a lot to me and my family my son found a home. The Devine legacy continues with the same culture and traditions Rich Rod taught me,” Noel Devine said on X (Twitter) after Andre signed with Jacksonville State in February of 2024.

Of course, Noel and Andre Devine are now together with Rich Rodriguez again at WVU.
