WVU Football Trying to Steal 2026 DL from ACC School
Despite committing to Boston College in June, 2026 defensive lineman prospect Gavin Neil is keeping his options open. This has opened up the door for the WVU football program to try to flip him.
West Virginia is now in the mix of schools trying to flip the three-star recruit, sending Neil an official offer. WVU defensive line coach William Green called Neil to inform him of West Virginia’s interest on Thursday, prompting Neil to share the news on social media.
After an amazing conversation with @coach_willgreen I am blessed to receive my 19th division 1 offer to @WVUfootball #HailWV @RealCoachRod @LopezMchs @coolc815 @Levi_bradley312 @AllenTrieu @GregSmithRivals @ByKyleKelly @EDGYTIM @TheUCReport @CoachJForney @AJBlack247 pic.twitter.com/oOnWBSjgGm

A 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive lineman out of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago, Ill., Neil now has 19 Division I offers. He’s considered a top 40 Illinois player in his class and just outside the 150 defensive linemen nationally. 247 Sports ranks him at No. 35 in his state in their composite rankings.
In addition to his Power Four opportunities with WVU and Boston College, Neil has offers from schools like Air Force, Army, Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Wyoming.
Michigan State is also involved as far as another major conference program.
