Joseph Yesufu Gets Right Into Coaching at New School

Former WVU basketball guard Joseph Yesufu is getting right into his next career, joining Campbell as an assistant coach.

Jeff Goodman of Field of 68 reported Wednesday evening that new Campbell coach Josh Andrzejek will be brining Joseph Yesufu in as a member of his staff.

Yesufu just concluded his college playing career, playing his senior season with the Mountaineers this year. Yesufu, who transferred in from Washington State, appeared in 29 games, averaging 6.4 points and 2.0 rebounds. He shot 38.3% from the field and 31.6% from three-point range. His 31 made theee-pointers were fourth-most on the Mountaineers.

Yesufu found his role with the Mountaineers in the second half of the season as someone who could provide a scoring spark off the bench. His season-high 18 points helped save at win at Colorado in early January and a perfect 6-for-6 shooting night saw him lead WVU to a win over Cincinnati with 16 points. The Illinois native reached double-digit points in six of West Virginia’s final 12 games.

Prior to West Virginia, Yesufu played at Washington State, Kansas and Drake. Yesufu would have briefly overlapped with Andrzejek at Washington State in 2023 while Andrzejek was an assistant coach for the Cougars.
