All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU Football Roster.

Incoming freshman Chris Fileppo signed his National Letter of Intent with WVU Football on Dec. 4, 2024, mere days after the firing of former head coach Neal Brown and his staff. Nevertheless, Fileppo decided to take his talents to Morgantown.

Listed as a nickel safety, the extra defensive back deployed on passing downs, Fileppo could see playing time even as a true freshman thanks to the Mountaineersโ€™ need to overhaul their secondary.

At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, Fileppo is a good deal taller than the average safety: indeed, he played at linebacker in high school. That lanky frame could help him interrupt passing lanes.

Camp outlook: The Mountaineers did what they could to revamp their secondary in spite of the coaching change, bringing in a number of players who began their career at a junior college or in Division II. As such, Fileppo could stand out in a depleted room.

Projected role: His listing at a specialized role, nickel safety rather than a traditional safety, indicates that the Mountaineers have a plan on the field for Fileppo in 2025. Even if he takes a redshirt year, Fileppo can appear in up to four games.

Accolades, highlights: Fileppo earned a three-star ranking from ESPN as a recruit. He also earned all-state honors and ran a 4.49 second 40-yard dash.
