LB Jared Bartlett officially signed with West Virginia

Suwanne (GA) outside linebacker Jared Bartlett has signed with the Mountaineers.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker held offers from Alabama, Maryland, Wake Forest, and Purdue before deciding on West Virginia.

Widely considered as a three-star recruit, Bartlett will soon be looked at as a steal for the West Virginia coaching staff. His speed and athleticism make him a terrific pass-rusher and an even better tackler. Bartlett shoots gaps well, can drop in coverage when asked, and has a nose for the football that reminds us of David Long. He might not have the stars beside his name, but Bartlett will be a household name sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, West Virginia’s linebacker corps is stocked full of veteran talent. The Mountaineers are slated to return every single linebacker on the roster in 2019, meaning it will be difficult for Bartlett to see the field as a true freshman. A redshirt year, however, will prove invaluable for the Georgia native in 2020 when Jovani Stewart, David Long Jr., Quondarius Qualls, Shea Campbell, and Adam Hensley all graduate.
