Mountaineers jump into Top 25 following series win over Texas Tech

This morning, the D1 college baseball rankings powered by Louisville Slugger were released. In those rankings you will find the Mountaineers checking in at No. 20.

Over the weekend, West Virginia took two of three games from the 11th ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders which happened to be the teams third consecutive series win over a ranked opponent.

Ace starting pitcher Alek Manoah got it rolling on Friday night with a dominate 15 strikeout, complete game shutout. What is more impressive is that Texas Tech ranks at the top of nearly every offensive category.

Saturday night was a wild and wonderful walk off as the Mountaineers had the bases loaded and drove in the game winning run with a walk off walk. The Red Raiders avoided being swept by taking game three yesterday, 3-0.

The Mountaineers will travel to State College this Wednesday to take on a struggling Penn State club (17-15) for a one game set before returning home to host a three game series vs the Kansas Jayhawks (19-16).
