Oliver Straw Represents WVU as Special Teams Player of the Week
On Monday, the Big 12 Conference announced punter Oliver Straw will represent WVU as this week’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
The Melbourne, Australia native totaled four punts for 200 yards and averaged 50 yards per punt with a long of 57. This marks the first time in his career Straw has averaged 50 yards per punt on multiple punts in a game. He pinned two punts inside the 20 and had multiple 50+ yard punts for the first time this season.
Most importantly for the team, WVU was able to win the game 31-21 over UCF.

Straw is averaging 43.4 per punts so far in 2024.
In 2023, Straw held a 43.0 average from 42 punts in 13 games. Straw’s longest was for 61 yards, just two yards shy of his best as a Mountaineer. He posted a 42.5 average from 49 punts his first college season in 2022, being named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week multiple times.
