The University of Texas announced on Thursday afternoon that they have fired men’s basketball head coach Chris Beard. Beard was charged with a third-degree felony for domestic assault in December.

Beard was arrested on Dec. 12.

According to the arrest report, Beard choked the woman for five seconds. Beard also allegedly gave bite marks and bruises to the victim. The woman said her breathing was affected.

Texas acting head coach Rodney Terry will continue his duties serving as the men’s basketball coach. The Longhorns sit at No. 6 in the AP poll with a 12-2 overall record. Texas is 1-1 in Big 12 play so far.
