WVU Football Recruiting
Top JUCO Safety Jumps at Chance to Join WVU Football
Rich Rodriguez and his WVU football staff are already benefiting from another coaching vacancy.
Junior college safety Da’Mare Williams moved from being headed to Kentucky to taking the country roads to West Virginia in light of the Wildcats’ firing Mark Stoops.
“Extremely blessed to be in this position! Morgantown let’s do it! I’m a mountaineer Recruitment shut down,” posted Williams on social media.
Williams re-opened his recruitment late Sunday night and then immediately jumped at the chance to join the Mountaineers. WVU initially pursued Williams before he picked Kentucky.
Houston and UCF were also interested in Williams.
In 10 games during the 2025 season, Williams registered 39 tackles, four pass breakups, two interceptions and two tackles for a loss.
