It took awhile to happen, and by the time it did occur, the Mountaineers were already trailing by multiple touchdowns, but West Virginia scored their first touchdown against Texas late in the first half.

Quarterback JT Daniels, who made a recent cut of the Golden Arm Watch List, threw an 8-yard pass to Kaden Prather for the score.

Despite the touchdown and extra point, Texas held a commanding 28-7 lead at half time.
