WVU West Virginia Football recruit Carlos Mitchell

West Virginia is still in the running for class of 2024 three-star recruit Carlos Mitchell.

Ranked as a top 100 Florida based prospect by multiple national outlets, Mitchell (5-foot-10, 170 pounds) released his updated list of schools by tweeting a graphic on Tuesday afternoon. He included West Virginia among a top six.

In addition to the Mountaineers, Mitchell has Kentucky, North Carolina, Penn State, Purdue and USF as remaining option. Mitchell is a player the WVU program has been pursuing for awhile, initially sending the Lake Wales, Florida native an offer in December.

Mitchell, who has one more remaining high school season at Lake Wales High School, was most recently in Morgantown for a visit on April 14. He’s listed as just an athlete across the board, but has experience excelling as a wide receiver.

Both 247 Sports and On3.com rank Mitchell as a three-star player, with 247 awarding him his best placement overall as the number 66 recruit in the state of Florida.

Prior to narrowing down his group of schools, Mitchell was also weighing offer from Arkansas State, Central Michigan, Charlotte, FAU, FIU, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, Nebraska, Temple, Tennessee Tech and Western Michigan.
