West Virginia Part of 4th Largest Crowd in Beaver Stadium History

STATE COLLEGE, Pa – A year after being part of a stadium attendance record in the return of the Backyard Brawl, West Virginia once again opened a season in front of another packed crowd.

in fact, the 2023 season opener against Penn State stands as the fourth largest crowd in Beaver Stadium history. Penn State has hosted tons of big games over the years, but only three contests experienced more people cheering in the stands.

The attendance was announced as 110,747 during the game.

1. 110,889 – Sept. 29, 2018 against Ohio State, a 27-26
2. 110,823 – Oct. 21, 2017 against Michigan, a 42-13
