WVU Football to Be Without Another RB in Season Finale
In extremely fitting fashion, WVU will be without another running back in its season finale on Saturday afternoon.
On Monday during his final radio show of the season, Rich Rodriguez revealed that Diore Hubbard will miss the Texas Tech game with an injury, ending his season.
Hubbard was cast into the top back role after both Jahiem White and Tye Edwards suffered season-ending injuries. West Virginia has also lost other running backs like Clay Ash throughout the season as well.
Cyncir Bowers will carry more of the workload on Saturday and linebacker turned running back Curtis Jones will continue his role in short yardage situations with Hubbard out.
Hubbard finishes his freshman season with 335 yards on 96 carries for an average of 3.5 yards per touch. He scored four touchdowns and also caught 16 passes for 156 yards as a receiver.
Hubbardโs best performance of the season came when he ran for 108 yards during the Mountaineersโ upset win over a then ranked Houston team on the road.
WVU enters the season finale at 4-7 (2-6, Big 12) unable to reach bowl eligibility no matter the result of the game. However, Rich Rodriguezโs team will try to play spoiler to conference favorite Texas Tech and shake up the College Football Playoff picture.
The Red Raiders are 10-1 (7-7, Big 12) and ranked as the No. 5 team in the country.
