West Virginia is in the running with Cincinnati, Oklahoma, and Penn State. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 203 pounds, Jones is the eighth-ranked player in Pennsylvania, the No 22 quarterback and the No. 371 player nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
Jones also announced he has official visits on the books with Cincinnati and Oklahoma. He did not mention one scheduled with Penn State despite the Nittany Lions being viewed as the favorite to eventually land his commitment.
As a junior, Jones threw for 2,525 yards and 32 passing touchdowns to go along with 740 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns as St. Josephs Prep went on to win the Pennsylvania 6A State Championship.
Jones is also planning to be back in Morgantown on April first. He’s publicly stated that he will not announce his commitment until July.

While WVU is never going to turn down the chance to acquire a quarterback like Samaj Jones, the Mountaineers are in the midst of deciding between its starter for 2023. The battle is between two young players with multiple years of eligibility remaining in Garrett Greene and Nicco Marchiol.
