2024 4-Star QB Prospect Samaj Jones Places West Virginia in Top 4

Samaj Jones, Pennsylvania’s top rated 2024 quarterback prospect, is seriously considering WVU.
Jones, a four-star recruit who attends the prestigious St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia has narrowed his school choice down to a top four, and the Mountaineers made the list.
West Virginia is in the running with Cincinnati, Oklahoma, and Penn State. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 203 pounds, Jones is the eighth-ranked player in Pennsylvania, the No 22 quarterback and the No. 371 player nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

As a junior, Jones threw for 2,525 yards and 32 passing touchdowns to go along with 740 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns as St. Josephs Prep went on to win the Pennsylvania 6A State Championship.
Jones is scheduled to be back in Morgantown on April first. He’s publicly stated that he will not announce his commitment until July.

If most of the national recruiting experts are correct, WVU will have to put in a lot of work to actually land Jones. He’s projected to eventually commit to Penn State.
While WVU is never going to turn down the chance to acquire a quarterback like Jones, the Mountaineers are in the midst of deciding between its starter for 2023 between two young players with multiple years of eligibility remaining in Garrett Greene and Nicco Marchiol.
