WVU Basketball Reaches Out to Veteran UT Martin Guard in Portal

For those concerned how much work the WVU basketball program would be able to do in the portal with a head coach still finishing up with his current team, West Virginia did reach out to a transfer player this week.
University of Tennessee Martin guard Tarence Guinyard tells the Portal Report that WVU is among the schools to contact him so far. LMU, New Mexico, Big 12 foe Oklahoma State and UNLV are just some of the other schools who are also showing interest in the veteran guard.

“Junior season has come to an end, it was an amazing year. So many hard fought battles on the hardwood. Didnโt have the best of luck but we battled every second on the court. So proud of my teammates and what we accomplished. So thankful for Coach Shul for believing in me. Love,” said Guinyard on March 7 before hitting the portal.
Before his time at UT Martin, Guinyard (6-foot-2, 170 pounds), a Tampa Bay, Fla. native, started his college career at Florida State College at Jacksonville. He then transferred to UT Martin before the 2024-25 season, registering 16.3 PPG, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
