WVU Women’s Basketball
WVU Fans Share Mixed Emotions About End of WBB Season

The WVU women fell shy of their goal of reaching the Sweet 16 (and beyond) once again, losing to North Carolina in a low scoring battle on Monday night. And while there’s disappointment that comes with a devastating loss, fans also made sure to show their gratitude for a great season.
Below shows some of the reaction from the game. To no surprise, the officiating was discussed once again.
Great season by @WVUWBB, tough ending for JJ and the squad
Glad to have our guy Coach Kellogg here in Morgantown
And thank you to all the seniors 👏

I feel for JJ Quinerly and the WVU women's basketball team. They had a great season but such a heartbreaking loss

We were 1.5 point favorites but we shot terribly, turned the ball over way too often the the officiating was horrendous.

Shots not falling & refs calling everything for UNC = Frustrating loss.
While the women’s basketball team fell short of their ultimate goal, they also made us incredibly proud and had an incredible season.
To the seniors, thank you. Good luck in your next chapter. 💛💙

It seems like for decades, WVU women’s hoops always has really good teams, but they usually have a let down game in the NCAA first or second round. To be fair, the soft foul calls against WVU in this one have been brutal. Just a tough night to go cold, missing a lot of open 3s.

UNC’s size is really hurting the WVU women. Also, UNC is getting away with plowing through WVU players… and it’s the Mountaineers who are getting called for the fouls.
Women’s college basketball will not move to the next level until playoff home games are abolished.— JayBirdLewis (@WestBGVirginian) March 25, 2025
