WVU’s JJ Quinerly Declares for WNBA Draft

WVU women’s basketball star JJ Quinerly has officially declared for the upcoming WNBA Draft, she announced on social media Saturday morning.
“My time at West Virginia has shaped who I am today,” she wrote. “As I step into this next chapter, I carry the spirit of Mountaineer Nation with me. Once a Mountaineer, always a Mountaineer.”

JJ Quinerly will go down as one of the greatest players in WVU women’s basketball history. Staying with the Mountaineers through three different head coaches, Quinerly led the team to three NCAA Tournament appearances while racking up three All-Big 12 first-team selections, back-to-back Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Awards and two All-American honorable mentions. She finished her WVU career in the top three of all-time career points and steals.
โI hope she gets her number called on draft night and gets in a training camp and goes and makes us all proud,” WVU coach Mark Kellogg said of Quinerly. “The hard work is in front of her, but I think sheโs prepared.”
The three-round WNBA draft will be held on April 14 in New York. West Virginia has a good history with the WNBA draft with six selections over the last 11 years. Most recently, Kysre Gondrezick became the Mountaineers’ highest-ever selection being picked fourth overall by the Indiana Fever in 2021.
Quinerly recently signed with GMG Sports & Entertainment management company.
