To kickoff a festive weekend ahead, the WVU football program landed a commitment from a linebacker for their 2027 class.

On Friday afternoon, Rick Brown, listed at 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, hails from Harrisburg, Pa., where he attends Susquehanna Township High School. His upcoming WVU official visit is set for June 5-7.

Initially offered by West Virginia in August of 2025, Brown also had offers on the table from Boston College, Minnesota, Pitt, Syracuse and Virginia Tech as well as JMU, Temple and UConn below the major conference level.

Rated as a top 25 prospect in Pennsylvania and a top 70 linebacker nationally by 247 Sports, Brown picked West Virginia over the offers from rivals schools.

Fresh off being named the Defensive MVP award at the Nike Opening Camp in New Jersey, Brown is a consensus three-star recruit.
