WVU Football Gets Ranked in Embarrassing Way
It took only two weeks for Rich Rodriguez to get WVU football ranked. But this ranking isn’t anything to be proud of for West Virginia.
The 1-1 Mountaineers coming off an upset loss to Ohio are now ranked inside CBS Sports’ Bottom 25.
WVU checks in at No. 20 and is joined by several other historic programs. Also making this list are Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Stanford Syracuse, UCLA and Virginia Tech just to name a few notable brands.

For more West Virginia representation, the other FBS school in the state is also being recognized in this embarrassing way. Marshall is ranked No. 10.
Of course, this list is simply an opinion of a media outlet and not in stone. However, the reality is the Mountaineers are in desperate need of a win to earn respectability.
WVU now has the biggest regular season game of the season coming up when they host Pitt in the Backyard Brawl. A win over Pitt, especially undermanned, will do wonders for getting WVU off the Bottom 25.
Unfortunately for West Virginia, oddsmakers aren’t too optimistic about their chances of making that happen with a big win over their arch rival.
Kickoff against Pitt is set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Milan Puskar Stadium.
