WVU Football Inks 3-Star Cornerback From Prep Powerhouse
2026 3-star cornerback Simaj Hill signed with WVU Football on Wednesday, Dec. 3 as part of the Mountaineers’ Early Signing Day class.
A 6-foot-1, 180 pound recruit out of Philadelphia’s Saint Joseph’s Prep, a powerhouse that suffered a down year in 2025, Hill flipped to West Virginia in June 2025 after initially signing with JMU.
He chose the Mountaineers over offers from Syracuse, Wake Forest and NC State, telling West Virginia Sports Now that WVU Football cornerbacks coach Rod West scouted and offered him during Saint Joseph’s spring practices. Hill, a two-time PIAA 6A state champion, is one of two cornerbacks expected to sign with the Mountaineers on Dec. 3.
Watching Hill’s highlights, he does an excellent job of getting his hands on the football and has excellent closing speed. Division I receivers will provide him more of a challenge, but he has the profile of a ball-hawking cornerback who could make plenty of splash plays for the Mountaineers.
