WVU Football earned the commitment of 2026 cornerback prospect Simaj Hill on Monday, June 9, per a post to his Instagram account. A 6-foot-1, 180 pound three-star recruit, Hill initially committed to JMU before flipping to the Mountaineers. He attends St. Joseph’s Prep, a football powerhouse in Philadelphia, winning the Pennsylvania 6A state championship game with the Hawks in each of the past two years.

The Mountaineers beat Wake Forest and Syracuse for Hill’s commitment.

Hill spoke with WV Sports Now shortly after receiving an offer from the Mountaineers on May 14. During the conversation, Hill revealed which coach took the time to watch him practice and what he told him about where he stands with West Virginia.

“Coach (Rod) West came to watch me practice. And after watching me move around and do drills, he decided to offer me. He said that I got in and out of my breaks fast and my overall movement was pro like, which impressed him,” said Hill.
