The WVU football program has a chance to land one of the best recruits in the state of New York.

Samuel Madu (6-foot-2, 170 pounds), a class of 2024 cornerback, tweeted a graphic late Friday night to show West Virginia as one of his top 5 schools. Madu also has Michigan State, Minnesota,  Penn State and Purdue on his updated list.

Madu attends Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Planes, New York. The Mountaineers sent Madu an offer on Feb. 2.

He owns a three-star ranking from a national outlet (On3.com) and is ranked as a top 100 overall prospect in his class. Madu is known for his athleticism, excelling in track as well as football.

Before announcing his top 5, Madu was weighing addition offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Duke, Missouri, Syracuse, Temple, Vanderbilt and several other schools.
