WVU basketball extended an offer to 2025 four-star forward Trent MacLean on Wednesday. MacLean, 6-foot-9, is entering his senior year at SoCal Academy, the same school West Virginia commit Kelvin Odih is at.

“Excited to be offered by West Virginia University. Thank you coach [Darian] DeVries, coach [Tom] Ostrom and the whole staff for believing in me,” MacLean wrote on social media.

During his recruitment, MacLean has picked up offers from Arizona State, Loyola Marymount, Rutgers, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and others. MacLean is originally from Westwood Village, Ca.

MacLean’s teammate, Odih, is WVU’s latest commitment. Odih chose the Mountaineers over Rutgers and Louisville, giving West Virginia its first four-star commitment in the Darian DeVries era. Odih is also the last four-star commitment since Isaiah Cottrell back in 2020.

“Everything was great. I really enjoyed my time over there. The coaching staff was very welcoming,” Odih said at the time to WV Sports Now.
