‘Everything Was Great’: 4-Star Kelvin Odih Recaps West Virginia Visit
2025 four-star guard Kelvin Odih visited West Virginia, getting a chance to see Morgantown during an exciting weekend. Odih recapped his visit with WV Sports Now.
General Thoughts on Visit:
“Everything was great. I really enjoyed my time over there. The coaching staff was very welcoming.”
Coaching Staff:
“[Assistant Tom Ostrom] has been great. Showed me that I’m a big priority for West Virginia. Talking to me daily, talking to my parents.”
“Friday, I got to campus. [The staff] was there waiting for me before I even got there and it was mad hot outside. That was just an early sign.”
“Coach DeVries, I really like him. Very nice guy. He kept it real with me. He never promised me anything, or sugarcoated anything to me. That’s something I very much respect about him.”
Touring Campus:
“On Friday, they showed me the facilities, beautiful facilities, beautiful campus. I took my photoshoot with the jerseys on. I had the full experience. I went to dorms as well.”
“Saturday for the football game was crazy. The first day I got there, there were mad RV vans out in the parking lot. I got to see the game up-close on the field before the game started. The stands were packed, probably 60,000 people in there. I’ve never seen something like that before. It was mad loud. Unfortunately, the rain happened and I had to leave at halftime.”
On WVU Fans:
“The fanbase was crazy. I don’t even go there and they were telling me come to West Virginia, showing me love. I was meeting elders that went there back in the 70s. It was very much like a family oriented school.”
Meeting Deuce McBride:
“I met an NBA player. He gave me some gems, talked to me, stuff like that. It was crazy.”
“He was telling me his experience at West Virginia and that if I was to come here, I would meet people that would become life-long friends. And that people take care of people that come here. It’s a big family state. They all take care of each other.”
“He was telling me that I should continue to work hard and if I do that, I will get to my end result which is making the NBA.”

Other Notes:
• WVU F Toby Okani was Odih’s player host for the weekend.
• Biggest WVU takeaway for Odih when comparing to other schools is the family-like culture within the program and town.
• Odih is just trying to enjoy his recruitment. Doesn’t have anything that needs to stick out from a school, would rather enjoy his experience with his final six.
• Odih doesn’t have an exact timeline for finalizing his recruitment but it will “be soon.”
Odih, 6-foot-5, narrowed his recruitment down to six schools: Colorado, Creighton, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Rutgers and West Virginia. Odih has trips to Colorado, Creighton and Rutgers lined up over the next month. Odih is a rising senior at South Kent School in Connecticut.
WVSN will provide updates throughout the rest of Odih’s recruitment.
