A busy day of recruiting for West Virginia basketball featured two commits Thursday afternoon, one of those being 2021 3-star small forward Jamel King.
King (6-foot-7, 180 pounds) played his high school basketball for Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona. He originally committed to New Mexico but re-opened his recruiting process earlier this month. He also had offers from Alabama State, Arkansas State, Cal State Northridge, East Tennessee State, Grand Canyon, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Samford, South Alabama, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Troy, UAB and Winthrop.

According to 247Sports, King is a 3-star recruit, ranked 162nd nationally. He’s the 35th-ranked small forward in the 2022 class and the sixth-ranked recruit from the state of Arizona.
King is the second recruit to commit to WVU Thursday, joining 2023 recruit James Okonkwo. King joins 3-star combo guard Seth Wilson and 3-star point Kobe Johnson in WVU’s three-man 2021 recruiting class.
