Two major veteran leaders and major contributors for WVU in 2023 earn All-American honors for their work during the 2023 season.

West Virginia legend and NFL Draft hopeful Zach Frazier has been placed on the second-team by every major publication that awards all-American status after another stellar season at center for the Mountaineers. He’s joined by Beanie Bishop, who lands on the first-team by most outlets, after his lone year at WVU.

Frazier, who was a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, is recovering from surgery after being injured on his final play as a Mountaineer. WVU head coach Neal Brown and quarterback Garrett Greene praised Frazier for his awareness and presence of mind to limp off the field and avoid a 10-second run off towards the end of a close game against Baylor. West Virginia ended up winning the game and that moment only added to the Fairmont native’s legacy.

Bishop recorded 59 total tackles and four interceptions during the regular season, his best statistical numbers for one season in his college career. He transferred to WVU following one season in the Big Ten with Minnesota and four at Western Kentucky.

While Bishop’s honor puts a final stamp of approval on his success as a transfer addition, Frazier’s was expected. Many even feel Frazier got snubbed by not being a member of the first-team. But snub or not, Frazier is now destined to fulfill his dram of reaching the NFL at the upcoming draft.
