2024 3-Star TE Gavin Grover Picks Cincinnati Over West Virginia

WVU made the top three of 2024 three-star tight end recruit Gavin Grover just a week ago, but did not land his commitment.
Grover announced he is committing to his closest hometown major program, Cincinnati, in a tweet Sunday afternoon. “Thank you to all the coaches who recruited me thus far. But I’m home,” Grover captioned his tweet above a graphic.

WVSN was able to speak with Grover recently about his recruitment and his thoughts on the West Virginia program at that time.
Grover explained that being able to showcase his talents was at the top of his list of what he was searching for in a college. He even mentioned that WVU’s newfound desire to utilize tight ends more as receiver options in the offense helped keep the Mountaineers in the running.
2024 3-Star TE Gavin Grover Believes in WVU’s Plan to Showcase Tight Ends
The timing of Grover committing to Cincinnati is somewhat surprising since he said the end of April would the earliest he would reveal his decision and was debating waiting until after making official visits too. “I’m playing around with waiting for official visits but I may just commit in late April,” he said just a few days ago.
Grover, listed at 6’6” and 235 pounds, is regarded as the number 13 player in the state of Ohio and the number 26 overall tight end in the country, according to 247 Sports. Rivals has him slightly lower and ranked at number 27 recruit in Ohio.
West Virginia coaches were able to turn up the notch in their effort to land Grover during his visit at the end of March. He spent time with head coach Neal Brown and tight ends coach Blaine Stewart and toured the facilities. Stewart was the main coach building a relationship with the tight end prospect out of Olentangy High School.
While Grover’s commitment to the Bearcats may seem like the end of the line recruiting wise, it’s very possible the Mountaineers could be a viable option if he changes his mind or ever looks to transfer.
